Complex Commercial and Fraud Dispute for a Multimillion Dollar Business in New York State Court
In March 2021, Bruno Law Group represented a very profitable and growing business in a partnership dispute over fraud, breach of contract, employment, and theft of trade secrets claims. The firm utilized an aggressive litigation strategy in its representation that led to a successful outcome for the client. While the time consuming and high stress litigation took place, BLG implemented a strong business advisory approach that helped maintain intact the client’s business operations.
BLG was able to settle the case for merely a five figure sum, a negligible amount for a
company projected to have multi million dollars in revenue per year. As a result of the quick settlement, the client was able to secure contracts with major international retailers previously unable to work with the company due to the ongoing litigation in question. BLG’s business advisory acumen also helped the company continue to grow during the litigation by acquiring more industrial machinery and settling outside disputes with vendors.
Acquisition of a High Stakes Luxury Ski Resort
Bruno Law Group was hired to represent a client in all aspects of a private equity backed purchase of a ski resort in New York. The firm advised the client on issues related to the lease and possible purchase, land use, employment, and environmental issues.
BLG used its background in business management to advise and structure the deal from the very beginning and provided insider knowledge that served to be instrumental in understanding the complicated land use, environment, and regulatory issues related to the acquisition.
Settled Intellectual Property Case for A Non-profit Supporting Law Enforcement and Military Veterans
In February 2021, Bruno Law Group was contacted by a non-profit organization focusing on law enforcement and military veterans issues to help resolve a claim from an international business over the improper use of its copyrighted photos on the non-profit organization’s website.
BLG was able to step in immediately and help the non-profit with aggressive negotiation and an explanation of its mission in a way that helped resolve matters with the international business. As a result of the firm’s involvement, the non-profit was able to settle the case quickly and with a nominal settlement fee.
Settlement Agreement for COVID-19 Related Hospitality & Services Contract
In April 2021, Bruno Law Group was retained by a client to dispute a venue deposit holding of over 10 months for a wedding that was cancelled due to COVID-19. The client rightfully sought their full deposit back as the contractual agreement specifically accounted for it under the Acts of God clause which allows for reservation cancellations.
In many of these types of cases, there are major challenges in communicating with the vendor in question and having them take the client’s demands seriously. Businesses at times use creative ways to manipulate the law in order to protect their own interests. BLG’s deep understanding of the law allowed it to, first, get the venue’s attention, and second, make it very clear that it would be pursuing its client’s interests under lawful measures that clearly stipulate their rights in this situation.
In the end, BLG was able to get its client’s full deposit returned in a matter that was efficient and to the client’s full satisfaction after waiting almost a year for the funds to be returned prior to hiring the firm!
The relationship between lawyer and client is the key to success.
